Gary and Doris Jurkiewicz were born and raised in Southeast Michigan.  They acquired The Oakwood Inn on September 1, 2001.  

Gary is a Registered Pharmacist in North Carolina and Michigan.  He is working full-time as a Clinical Pharmacist and part-time at Person Street Pharmacy in Downtown Raleigh.  He worked as a Project Manager for a large hospital corporation before moving to North Carolina.  

Doris worked as a bookkeeper and human resource director before moving to North Carolina to pursue her dream to become an Innkeeper.  

The couple has five daughters and one granddaughter.  The oldest daughter, Dianna, moved to Raleigh from Virginia Beach.  Dianna  is an Accounts Payable Clerk and her daughter Morgan is attending Second Grade in Cary.  Erin has graduated from Wayne State University and the Police Academy and is a deputy sheriff for Oakland County in southeast Michigan. Erin is busy planning her Fall 2009 wedding.  Donna graduated from Ferris State University and is now a 3rd Grade Teacher at an Elementary School in Raleigh.  Diana J has graduated Walsh College.  She is now working at the Tank and Automotive Command as an Administrative Assistant.  The youngest, Debbie has graduated from North Carolina State University working and is now working full-time for a local Pharmaceutical Development Company
In August of 2007 the newest member of the family was adopted! Chimay a beautiful Standard Poodle found a new home at the Oakwood Inn and loves to greet the guests when they arrive to check-in!

And for everyone curious about the Master in charge of Guest Relations ~ Scooter ~ has moved in with his sister down the street.  He and Tilly are enjoying a dog-free life style.  At 14 Scooter was not happy about being licked constantly by an over-adoring puppy!
